April 16-22 marks the 94th annual National Coin Week. The theme for 2017 is “Conflict and Courage: Money and the Military.” This year marks the 100th anniversary of the United States involvement in World War I. For numismatists and coin collectors across the country, the annual celebration will focus on money and the military throughout history, including ancient coins celebrating battles, siege money of the Renaissance and more.
If you have an interest in coin collecting, the Fort Lauderdale Coin & Stamp Show will be held April 16 at Volunteer Park in Plantation, Fla. (near Sawgrass Mall). With free parking, admission and appraisals, the show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is produced by the Fort Lauderdale Coin Club.
